Relaxation And Mindfulness

I am able to bring relaxation and mindfulness techniques into the counselling room, in order to support clients of all ages to tune into their physical experiences and feel present in the moment.

As a qualified Relax Kids and Baby Mindful coach, I am trained in a number of programmes that can be offered in a group or 1:1 setting.

I hold an enhanced DBS, am safeguarding trained and am insured.

Groups can be run within your school, community organisation or business and can be run as a one-off session or as a course. Classes are usually an hour-long, but can be tailored to your needs.

All classes can all be delivered as 1:1 sessions, tailored to meet your specific requirements. Or perhaps you are looking for some advice or support, but you are not entirely sure what you need. It might help to have a talk through your concerns, and we can then work out a bespoke package for you.

Relax Kids is an accredited training provider.

All Relax Kids classes follow a simple seven step programme, designed to promote emotional well-being, confidence and calm. Sessions can follow a theme, such as fairytales, pirates, space, baking, sports: wherever your child’s imagination takes them! Or classes can be themed around topics such as confidence, kindness, managing anxiety, wellbeing.

The Seven Steps:

  • Movement and dance, which allow children to express themselves freely

  • Fun games which allow them to interact, share and communicate

  • Stretching and breathing exercises, to build self-awareness and restore calm to the nervous system

  • Peer massage, encouraging children to interact in a kind way to each other

  • Positive affirmations to develop a strong sense of self-worth and confidence

  • Relaxations/visualisations, allowing the children to explore their imagination

Baby Mindful classes are different to many other baby activity classes, in that the classes have a slow and simple pace, giving you the chance to "be" with your baby" rather than "do".  Classes are suitable for babies aged birth-6 months. Each session is based around a well-known nursery rhyme and follows the Relax Kids Seven Steps, using a range of activities designed to strengthen this new bond between parent and baby, whilst supporting babies’ natural development. The specially designed classes allow a wonderful space for parents and baby to connect and enjoy being with each other. It's never too early to be introduced to calmness and contentment! Parents will also be spending quality time with their baby in a calming and supportive atmosphere where they will benefit from carefully designed exercises to help them relax, unwind, and feel more confident and grounded.

Just Relax

A relaxation course, for adults only.

"Just Relax?" Is it really that easy? Well, no. Like anything important, it takes time, practice and commitment to really learn how to relax properly. Following the 7 steps to relaxation, the programme helps you explore different relaxation techniques in a safe, nurturing space, slowing the body down and preparing it for deep relaxation.

Current Collaborations

Mulberry Bush Nursery Group are a group of five family run and owned children’s nurseries based in Bury, Lancashire. Founded in 1990, they are the longest established nursery group in the North West.

In 2019, I began working with the team to create their Pre-School Mindfulness Programme. We introduced the programme, as a result of a change in policy for emotional wellbeing and behaviour. The aim was to begin to introduce an attitude of mindfulness to the care staff give the children, modelling this through their words and actions.  The activities or prompts were kept simple, designed to enhance practice, staff relationships with the children and staff’s enjoyment of their role, as well as developing the children’s mindful practices.

The programme was developed alongside a package of staff care, in order to facilitate commitment and practice. This included staff wellbeing and relaxation sessions, as well as training for management on counselling skills.

I have continued to return to each nursery once a year and it has been lovely to see how the programme has continue to be embedded in Mulberry Bush practice.
